Charleston, South Carolina has held its own as a top wedding-destination spot in the United States. But to fast-forward to wedding talk, you have to get engaged first! When you combine Charleston’s history with young romance you get an elegance that goes unmatched. Many photographers consider Charleston a wedding and engagement photography dream! Cobblestone roads, colorful, time-forgotten buildings, and live-oaks make for romantic and timeless backdrops.
We met Jenny and Dylan right next door! That’s right, they are currently our neighbors and will be getting married May 17th, 2019, right here in Charleston at Wingate Plantation! Dylan is in the United States Coast Guard and Jenny works as a Respiratory Therapist here at Medical University of South Carolina.
Not everyone can hold the title of “High-School Sweethearts.” But this future bride and groom sure can! Jenny met Dylan in a high school study session that led to them going to a Winter Formal together. They spent a few years apart while Dylan enlisted in the Coast Guard and Jenny finished up her degree. Time and distance didn’t weather this cute couple and they found their way here to Charleston, South Carolina.
From the little we know about Dylan and Jenny, we would say they are both adventurers at heart. From camping to concerts, these two seem to do it all! Even though Charleston is where Dylan and Jenny currently call home, their hearts are still partially in the North-West wilderness. Dylan would ask Jenny to marry him after a not-so-long 6-mile hike that ended right next to beautiful Gillette Lake in the Washington Columbia River Gorge. I bet Jenny felt the hike was well worth it! Dylan also had some magic up his sleeve and apparently was quite into engagement photography himself as he caught the entire proposal on camera!
When we met Jenny and Dylan they had already found their photographer for their big day, Sarah Beach. Sarah and I met second shooting for another friend and wedding photographer in the Charleston, SC area. We have two completely different styles of photography, but her work is gorgeous!
On that note, Jenny mentioned needing a photographer for engagement photos. Valarie and I jumped on the opportunity. By this point and like all our clients, we consider Jenny and Dylan friends and were super excited to get to spend a beautiful morning walking around The Battery and Downtown Charleston with them. The last time I was at The Battery was for Ryan and Kristen’s surprise proposal. I almost forgot how beautiful it is!
Their love was undeniable! We laughed the entire time, especially when Jenny mistook one of Dylan’s chest hairs for a loose string and pulled it out as we were shooting. :)But for as many silly moments that we shared, we still managed to capture the super cute love Jenny and Dylan share with each other!
